Dance Tool

Dance Tool is a new Culturally Situated Educational Game that provides a novel approach for teaching the introductory computer science concepts of objects, loops and functions and looping via the creation of a dance. Dance Tool incorporates aspects of dance and pop culture targeted towards middle and high school aged students. Players use a drag and drop interface to select pre-made dance moves and put them together into Instructions, which can be reused and looped, similar to functions. Play testers have successfully used the interface to build complex dances, and have provided us with beneficial feedback for use in further development. Dance Tool hopes to become an effective tool for educators that will assist in teaching foundational computer science concepts.
